Why it matters

Tooth decay affects all aspects of a child’s life and has a long-term impact on their future, and yet it continues to be one of the most prevalent issues impacting children’s health in the UK today. 1 in 4 five year olds are affected by tooth decay and 3 school days are missed on average per year due to tooth decay. Every child deserves the best start in life and our supervised brushing programme ensures all children are provided with dental health education and are seen by dental professionals.
