Since its inception in 2010, the Teeth Team Programme has grown to become a well-established and nationally recognised child dental health improvement initiative, facilitated within the City of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire in conjunction with 543 Dental Centre.

Teeth Team’s school-based supervised tooth brushing programme aimed at primary school-aged children could not exist without the generous donations and support from dental companies, charitable trusts and foundations, the general public, and the dental professionals willing to give their time and expertise to improve the dental health of children across the country.

Children’s oral health continues to become an increasingly urgent problem with 1 in 4 five year olds affected by tooth decay (gov.uk). According to the Oral Health Foundation, an average of three school days per year are missed due to tooth decay, which is also the number 1 cause of child hospital admissions (British Dental Association).

A Big Thank You to DD Group!

DD Group logoFor the past four years, Teeth Team has been very fortunate to have received incredible support from DD Group, one of the largest full service dental dealers in the UK, who to date has provided the charity with almost £40,000-worth of key dental supplies at a special discounted rate.

This generous support has included:

  • Child toothbrushes in assorted colours
  • Aquafresh Big Teeth and Little Teeth toothpaste
  • Duraphat Fluoride Varnish
  • Micro applicator brushes and dental mouth mirrors
  • Unodent alcohol-free wipes
  • Nitrisoft Nitile examination gloves

Chris Groombridge, Chair of Teeth Team and Joint Managing Director at 543 Dental & Implant Centre in Hull said, “The support from DD Group over the past four years has been invaluable in allowing Teeth Team to distribute free toothbrushes and toothpaste to primary school children, and especially to those in the most deprived areas, and to continue providing clinical dental assessments, application of fluoride varnish and subsequent signposting for children to access primary and secondary dental care.

“While Teeth Team has worked hard to make a difference, tooth decay continues to be one of the biggest health issues impacting the future health and prosperity of children in the UK. With the continued support of DD Group, as well as that of valued partners, individuals and other independent organisations, we are focused more than ever before on improving the dental health of children across the country.”
