Happy New Year to all from the Teeth Team staff. Schools reopen next week in our region, so we have been busy getting stock ready for our Teeth Team schools, preparing for dental assessments and are all set to guide staff to deliver classroom daily tooth brushing for 2024.
We are excited to be back in schools from next week to help to deliver a programme that really benefits pupils and their dental health.
Thousands of children from 24 primary schools, predominantly across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, benefit from the school-based supervised toothbrushing programme. Teeth Team also incorporates clinical dental assessments, applications of fluoride varnish and the subsequent signposting for accessing primary and secondary dental care. It is a collaborative working partnership between local dental practices, schools, and parents to improve the dental health of children.
Chris Groombridge, Chair of Teeth Team since its inception in 2010, commented: “We are looking forward to the new school term and returning to the classrooms to continue rolling our vital programme out to thousands of primary aged children in the 24 schools we support.
“This is our 14th year running this programme and we know that the work Teeth Team does to support the dental health of children is providing a real benefit to their lives, and the Teeth Team trustees are totally focussed on ensuring the charity really works to help and benefit all the children signed up.”
