WHEN WE VISIT

IN-SCHOOL ORAL HEALTHCARE

WE WORK TO EDUCATE

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE TEETH TEAM VISIT A SCHOOL?

TEETH TEAM VISIT STEP 1

SETTING THINGS UP

We will give an Oral Health Education (OHE) talk to the staff, including showing class teachers and classroom assistants how to implement good cross-infection control policy in regards to tooth brushing and maintaining the toothbrush racks.

The classes also receive an OHE talk when we initially set up the programme, including showing the children how to brush their teeth.

TEETH TEAM VISIT STEP 2

REPEAT VISITS

Biannual fluoride application – our dental nurses visit each school and apply a fluoride varnish to the children for whom we have signed consent forms.

Annual or biannual assessment – one of our dentists will visit the school and carry out basic examinations to check the children’s teeth. Letters are sent home if a dental need is suspected.
