WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TEETH TEAM VISIT A SCHOOL?

  • TEETH TEAM VISIT STEP 1

    SETTING THINGS UP

    • You will give an Oral Health Education (OHE) talk to the staff, including showing class teachers and classroom assistants how to implement good cross-infection control policy in regards to tooth brushing and maintaining the toothbrush racks.

    • The classes also receive an OHE talk when we initially set up the programme, including showing the children how to brush their teeth.

  • TEETH TEAM VISIT STEP 2

    REPEAT VISITS

    • Biannual fluoride application - Your dental nurses visit the school and apply a fluoride varnish to the children for whom we have signed consent forms.

    • Annual or biannual assessment - you will visit the school and carry out basic examinations to check the children’s teeth. Letters are sent home if a dental need is suspected.
